View Our Progress in a larger map
1:30PM 1/31 – Home Sweet Home in Philadelphia
10:30AM 1/31 – Departed State College on the last leg of the trip back to Philadelphia
1:00AM 1/31 – Arrived at Penn State
2:00PM 1/30 – Stopped at the Maker’s Mark Distillery
8:00PM 1/29 – Made it to Nashville!
5:40PM 1/29 – Stopped totally dead for the past hour on I-40 about 30 miles from Nashville. This is awful, luckily Connor’s car isĀ a marvel of technology and has a built in DVD player so we’re watching Superbad while waiting for the accident to get cleared. We’ve been trapped here for about an hour and are finally seeing movement in the distance so hopefully we’ll be on our way soon.
The Last Leg
by bradjfitz on Jan.31, 2010, under Pictures, Reflections, The Story, Update
Last nights journey took us from just outside of Lexington, KY up through Cincinnati, OH across the state briefly crossing into West Virgina before finally reaching our home state of Pennsylvania. The trip has taken us through 7 states, encompassing over 1500 miles of driving (all of which Andrew did). We’ve met some interesting people and seen things that have made us question the intelligence of our fellow Americans (see Dinosaur World ; I mean seriously who financed that?) but overall it has been a great experience, one which we will never forget.
Currently we’re cruising down 322 towards Philadelphia, arriving approximately around 1:30pm. While the trip may be coming to a close we’ll still be adding a few more updates with our post trip reflections and stories we may have forgot to add along the way. Thank you all for taking this journey with us and keeping our spirits up by commenting and texting. Home here we come!
Midnight Riders

Due to some stuff that I don’t quite remember, but read on the internet, the moon appeared larger then normal last night illuminating our path from Kentucky to State College. It was a long and tiring journey that seemed to never end, but just before 1 am we arrived at our Alma Mater and it was glorious.

Kentucky Burbon

We’re in hour 52 of the trip and because of the weather we didn’t get to accomplish some of the things that were originally planned. Feeling the need to expand our horizons and get the most out of Kentucky we decided to take the road less traveled and find the Maker’s Mark Distillery. We have video on the way, but due to slow speed of our 3G hotspot and the length of time the upload process takes they’ll have to come later, so we’re sorry if these next few posts seem a little out of order. Until then please enjoy this gallery of photos from the back roads of rural Kentucky and of the Maker’s Mark facility.
Paying Off In Spades
by bradjfitz on Jan.30, 2010, under Pictures, The Route, Update
Thus far our decision to go north has been excellent. The roads in Kentucky are completely free of ice and snow, we haven’t seen one wreck, and even saw a patch of blue sky for the first time in 2 days. Classic Vinyl on XM satelite radio is on fire playing the most perfect classic rock songs we’d ever want. Rolling through Bowling Green at a brisk 80 mph (first time we’ve gone over 40pmh in 24 hours), at this pace we might actually make it to Penn State before midnight.
